@getpeppr/sdk 6.3.0 adds Iceland to SCHEMES_BY_COUNTRY, the list of
Peppol identifier schemes the console offers per country.
The two Icelandic schemes
| Scheme | What it is | Format |
|---|---|---|
0196 (IS:KTNR) |
Kennitala — recommended, and registered first | 10 digits, without the hyphen |
IS:VAT |
VAT number (VSK-númer) | IS followed by its 5 or 6 digits, uppercase, without padding |
Register the kennitala first: Icelandic invoices carry the seller's kennitala as
its legal identifier (rule IS-R-002), and the first identifier registered is
the one written there. A VAT-registered company then adds its VAT number: an
invoice that charges VAT needs it. IS:VAT has no code in the Peppol code list,
so it is registered with our provider only and nobody routes to it.
What changes for your code
validatePeppolIdentifier now checks the format of both schemes. A value it
accepted before, such as validatePeppolIdentifier("IS:VAT", "99999"), now
returns valid: false with the error Format mismatch: expected IS followed by the 5 or 6 digits of the VAT number, uppercase, without padding (e.g. IS000000). For the kennitala, the default check is its shape (10 digits); with
{ usage: "registration" } the check digit is verified too, as getpeppr does
when you register it.
A 5-digit VAT number such as IS99999 is valid: our provider accepts it since
it fixed its validation on 8 October 2026.
On getpeppr
Iceland opens self-serve on /countries. The kennitala and a
declared VAT number are verified automatically against Iceland's company
register (Skatturinn), and an invoice that would break Iceland's national Peppol
rules (IS-R) is refused before it is sent, with the rule named. The
Icelandic customers guide covers
platforms, including what a platform customer can send today.
